{Life} Day 7 of 30 Truths

Day 07 → Someone who has made your life worth living for.

My brother Shane has made my life worth living. People talk about soul mates in a romantic way, but for me, it’s different. My younger brother, Shane, is absolutely my soul mate. Our souls connect in way, so deep, that I could probably never begin to explain it.

Any time, I have ever felt like giving up or throwing the towel in, I think about Shane. I think about where he’d be, where he’d end up, what would happen to him. I could never leave him. Shane and I always joke that we were twins, but I hogged all the room so he stayed in my mom an extra 3 years, cookin’. We are that much alike. We laugh the same, act the same (bitchy;) ), have the same mannerisms.

So, Shane thank you for making my life worth living. For being my best friend, my man (can we even say that?) of honor, my personal fashion police, my wing man (again..), my partner in crime…my soul mate<3

And, I leave you with our song.

Time, is going by, so much faster than I,
And I'm starting to regret not spending all of it with you.
Now I'm, wondering why, I've kept this bottled inside,
So I'm starting to regret not telling all of it to you.
So if I haven't yet, I've gotta let you know...
You never gonna be alone!
From this moment on, if you ever feel like letting go,
I won't let you fall...
Your never gonna be alone!
I'll hold you 'til the hurt is gone.
And now, as long as I can, I'm holding on with both hands,
'Cause forever I believe that there's nothing I could need but you,
So if I haven't yet, I've gotta let you know...
You've gotta live every single day,
Like it's the only one, what if tomorrow never comes?
Don't let it slip away,
Could be our only one, you know it's only just begun.
Every single day,
Maybe our only one, what if tomorrow never comes?
Tomorrow never comes...
Time, is going by, so much faster than I,
And I'm starting to regret not telling all of this to you.
You never gonna be alone!
From this moment on, if you ever feel like letting go,
I won't let you fall.
When all hope is gone, I know that you can carry on.
We're gonna see the world on,
I'll hold you 'til the hurt is gone.

Remember when we danced to this at my wedding...I love you.

{Life} Day 6 of 30 Truths

Day 06 → Something you hope you never have to do.

I hope I never have to bury my immediate family. I know it may one day be inevitable, as the world works, it is natural for children to bury their parents, but honestly, the thought makes me really sad. And I really desperately hope to never have to bury either one of my brothers. I’d rather go with ‘em…

{Life} Today

Today sucks.

Here I am on
The phone again and
Awkward silence is
On the other end

I used to know
The sound of a smile
In your voice
But right now
All I feel
Is the pain of the fighting
Starting up again

All the things we talk about
You know they stay on my mind (on my mind)
All the things we laugh about
They'll bring us through it every time (after time, after time)

Don't say a word
I know you feel the same
Just give me a sign
Say anything, say anything
Please don't walk away
I know you want to stay
Just give me a sign
Say anything, say anything

Some say that
Time changes
Best friends can
Become strangers
But I don't want that
No not for you
If you just stay with me
We can make it through

So here we are again
Same old arguement
And now I'm wondering
If things'll ever change, yeah

When will you laugh again?
Laugh like you did back when
We made noise till 3 am
And the neighbors would complain

All the things we talk about
You know they stay on my mind (on my mind)
All the things we laugh about
They'll bring us through it every time (after time, after time)

Don't say a word
I know you feel the same
Just give me a sign
Say anything, say anything
Please don't walk away
I know you want to stay
Just give me a sign
Say anything, say anything

{Life} Day 5 of 30 Truths

Day 05 → Something you hope to do in your life.

I hope to one day become a mother. I have always felt like I was destined to be a mother. To nurture and feel a little human being growing inside of me, would mean more to me then anything in the world.

I know when the time is right, and the stars align, it will happen for me. Until then, I will cautiously pick out nursery furniture ;).

{Life} Day 4 of 30 Truths

Day 04 → Something you have to forgive someone for.

Without going in too much detail (because I'm not ready yet, and I can't force myself to be ready for the sake of this blog), I'm going to forgive a man in my past for being inappropriate towards me. I am going to forgive him not for him, but for me. So that I can breathe easy, and begin to move on. I am no longer going to wallow in it. I cannot let it shape me, be the reason why I do things, or control my life. I am going to forgive him, a little now, and a little more down the road. All I know is I do have to forgive him if I want a chance to be happy, and right now, with all my new beginnings, I really feel like I deserve that.

{Fashion} Outfit of the Day

{Life} Day 3 of 30 Truths

So, while today is, ohhh day 5 in actuality, not having a computer at home has been a teeny tiny bump in the road. Oh well, at least I've gotten this far, no?

Day 03 → Something you have to forgive yourself for

I have decided (right now) that I am going to forgive myself for my failed marriage. I have gone over every scenario and every situation of the last five years, wondering where I went wrong, or what I could've (should've?) done different. I come to the same conclusion every time-although I played a role in the demise of my marriage, it was inevitable from day one.

No matter what I did, or didn't do for that matter, my marriage was doomed. I missed all the signs. Ok, ok, I didn't miss the signs...I ignored them. But this is about forgiving myself right? If I go through every situation again and again in my head, until I literally go insane, I will still end up in the same place as I am now. Nothing I say, do or don't do will change the outcome. And I am finally okay with that.

I need to forgive myself for putting my safety at risk. I need to forgive myself for hiding my voice, in order to let another be heard. I need to forgive myself for not loving myself, and for not putting myself first. I need to forgive myself for not respecting myself. For putting someone else's needs before my own. Above all, I need to forgive my self for the whole damned thing, in order to not feel ashamed, or feel like I need to rock a scarlet letter.

It's going to be a long road, a road full of tears, and 'why?''s, and many, many turns. I am really going to work on forgiving myself while making changes in myself so that I don't make the same mistakes again.

{Life} Day 2 of 30 Truths

Day 02 → Something you love about yourself.

Can I make a bullet list? Or do I have to just pick one thing and run with it? I'm actually down on myself today, so this question is annoying me at this moment.

I love my hair. I've always loved my hair..when it comes to decisions in regards to me hair, I do not make them lightly.

BUUUUT, on a more serious note, I would have to say..I Love my sense of humor. My sense of humor has gotten me through so much in my life, and without it, I'm pretty sure I would be worse for the wear. My sense of humor has gotten me through breakups (I'd count how many, but then I'd need to borrow your hands..), it has gotten me through deaths, through boredeom, through school, and through work everyday. It has brought me closer to my friends, and to my family. It has also gotten me in trouble, but I still love it.

{Life} Day 1 of 30 Truths

Here goes nothing..

Day 01 → Something you hate about yourself.

I hate my inability to trust. Once upon time, you could've told me that the earth was flat, and I would've believed you. I trusted everything everyone ever said to me. Why not, right? These days, however? If you tell me I look good in this sweater, I'm already wondering why you're saying that before you can even finish the sentence.

I know everyone has been hurt, everyone has had their heart broken (& if you haven't, I REALLY don't trust you) but it doesn't make it any easier when it happens to you. So many changes are occuring in my life right now, all the things that I believed to be true, aren't. All the truths I've heard, are lies.

I'm trying really hard to believe that people can be trusted. People mean what they say, and say what they mean. I know it is a long road that is ahead of me, and one day I am going to have to trust again. I'm a work in progress.

{Life} 30 Days of Truth

So, I stumbled across a blog today, called Spontaneously Us, where the author is answering questions each day,it is called 30 days of truth. I've seen something like this on other blogs, and I actually used to do something like this in my journal. I really liked her answers and she made me want to give it a try. It will also help me to keep blogging since CLEARLY, I suck. So, Thank You Kasi! Check out her blog! http://kasiworld.blogspot.com/, its awesome. {Misc} What's in my purse?

I've seen ALOT of bloggers doing this post, and since most days I struggle about what to write about (who would've known?) I've decided to do this as well..here goes:

1. Target Faux Leather boho bag
I love this because it can be worn on the shoulder or across the chest. I love all the pockets and how it fits everything nicely. I've gotten ALOT of compliments on this bag.

2. Target "gold" long necklace
I keep this in case I need to jazz up an outfit on the fly. My one complaint: It smells!(like a penny!)

3. Target (see a trend here?) sunglasses
I love the shape of these!

4. LV wristlet
One of my favorite purchases, I keep it in my bag and throw my license, cash and cards in there when I'm running around and don't wanna lug the purse.

5. Vera Bradley Coin Purse
Self Explanatory--I keep my loose change and Big Y coins in it.

6. XOXO business card holder
Again, pretty self explanatory. I always see people in the grocery store or when I'm out who want Probate advice or legal advice..I give them my card and tell them to call me during the week!

7. My Inhaler
I need it to live!

8. CoverGirl lash blast length water resistant mascara
I actually DO NOT recommend this mascara. I hate it and have only used it once or twice so I took it out of my makeup bag and now just carry it as an emergency one, just in case I ever forget or need that one extra coat.

9. CoverGirl OUTLAST Lipstains
Good to have, nice light color without the stickiness that I sometimes can't stand

10. Jemma Kidd Lipgloss in Strip
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this lip gloss! Its $12/tube but thats cheaper then MAC and it lasts a really long time

11. KATHY wallet
I love the fake croc print in the dark brown and light pink on the inside, and it carries all my stuff. I got it for pretty cheap at TJMaxx..I love KATHY bags & wallets!

12. Checkbook
Self Explanatory (I hope)

13. Pen
For all the things that run through my head that I'll never remember! Also good for check writing, LOL.

14. Hand Sanitizer
My health insurance sends them to me a couple times a year..I love that.

15. MIDOL
Self Explanatory...without it I'd be a bitch on wheels during that special time of the month.

16. Eyelash curler & brow brush
I'm obsessed with my eyelashes curly and my brows neat..what can I say?

17. White-Out
Cause I really make that many mistakes..(& I'm NOT afraid to admit it!)

18. A mini hair brush
I HATE when you're driving in the car with the windows down and your hair gets that stringy look..with a quick brush I'm ready to go

19. My keys w/ a COACH keychain
This keychain was a gift from my boss last Christmas because in October I had gotten married and my last name now starts with an O.

20. Helzberg Diamonds 'I am Loved' pin
It's cuuuute, no?

{Life} Rules to live by

I was reading one of my favorite blogs, 'Fabulous Florida Mommy' and I came across a post she did with these 'rules' to live by. I thought I'd share thwm with you..

-Living well really IS the best revenge.

-Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

-You only need two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.

-When baking, follow directions carefully. When cooking on top of the stove, go by your own taste.

-Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you respond to it.

-The two most essential phrases for a happy relationship: "I apologize" and "You are right."

-Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it just means you decided to see beyond the imperfections and be happy anyway.

-If you woke up breathing, be thankful! You have another chance!

-Being miserable because of a former relationship just proves that the other person was right about you.

-Real friends are those who, when you make a fool of yourself, don't feel you've done a permanent job.

-If he or she says that you are too good for them - believe it.

-You don't have to attend every argument you're invited to.

-You should lead your life so you wouldn't be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip.

-Learn from the mistakes of others.

-You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Great rules to live by if you ask me :)

{Beauty} Would you rather?

1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up?
Messy hair & nice makeup! I'd just do a messy bun and lots of mascara to draw the attention to my eyes.

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
Well, I LOVE my eyebrows so I would most definitely rather have my eyelashes fall out because I would just wear falsies til they grew back!

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
Sephora b/c they have lots of brands and lots of products..I could get makeup, brushes, perfumes, face & body washes and lotions..whereas at MAC I could only get makeup and brushes.

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?
hmmm..80's perm cause I'd find a way to make it look cute! Lipliner is just not for me..

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
Well..I've been known to have an obvious foundation line which I have worked on and fixed through the years! I'd say overdone blush...flushed can look pretty!

6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
Biker shorts!

7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?
tan lines. No oompa-loompa for me. Been there-done that. not cute.

8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?
Bad color because you can re-color it..

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?
Twitter.

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
Brushes..I could manage without I'm sure!

{Food} Matt Romero's Eggplant Sandwiche

Two posts in 1 day? Now this is upsurd...!

I saw this in the latest issue of Real Simple Magazine. It looks delicious, and I thought I'd share it with you. I plan on making this for my mom & I very soon! (She appreciates good food, unlike my husband who would'nt mind eating a burger every.day.)

Serves 4
Hands-On Time: 30m
Total Time: 30m
Ingredients
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup panko bread crumbs
1 medium eggplant (1 to 1 1/2 pounds), cut into eight 1/2-inch-thick rounds
1/2 cup canola oil
kosher salt
4 leaves romaine lettuce, torn in half
2 medium beefsteak or other tomatoes (about 1 pound), sliced
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
4 ounces fresh goat cheese, crumbled
Directions
Place the flour, eggs, and bread crumbs in separate shallow bowls. Dip the eggplant slices in the flour, then in the eggs (letting any excess drip off), and finally in the bread crumbs, pressing gently to help them adhere.
Heat half the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook half the eggplant until golden brown and crisp, 2 to 3 minutes per side; transfer to a paper towel–lined plate. Wipe out the skillet and repeat with the remaining oil and eggplant. Sprinkle the hot eggplant with ½ teaspoon salt.
Layer the eggplant, lettuce, tomatoes, basil, and goat cheese to form 4 "sandwiches," with the eggplant on the top and bottom of each stack.

{Fashion} My Fall Picks

Although it is still 90 degrees and humid out, some stores think its already fall! I can't help but thinking about all the pieces I want to try in the fall..so here are some of my picks..

Old Navy's Women's Cropped Twill Moto Jacket.
I've been looking for something with this style for forever. I would want to try it on in the store instead of buying online to ensure the fit.

Old Navy's Women's Cropped Rosette Cardigan
I love the versatility of this piece, it can be dressed up for work or thrown over a T-shirt w/ jeans for weekend shopping.

Old Navy's Women's The Diva Distressed Skinny Jeans
I love the combined style of distressed and skinny, you don't see them together often.

Those are a few staples I hope to add to my closet this fall. I also have some Anthropologie picks but I can't seem to be able to PIP those. As soon as I figure that out I'll be adding to this list!

What are your fall must haves?

{Life} Admitting that I'm not so good at something

Admitting that I'm not so good at this blogging thing, is..well..pathetic. I tried to keep up with it (and by tried I mean I haven't thought about it in weeks, lol) but apparently in my real life, I just really didn't have the time. Okay, I didn't make the time! From this point on I really, REALLY, am going to try to update this a few times a week, even if that means blogging from work (no shame in my game). I also want to start doing OOTD posts b/c thats what I REALLY love. I have a passion for fashion. I went to Lee, Mass 2 weekends ago to go outlet shopping. I got some great steals, including 10 tank tops from Gap and American Eagle that were all $7 or under! I also got some great jeans from American Eagle which I love, and was in desperate need for. I was going to add some pictures of the tanks I got but when I went to look them up, American Eagle is having their site worked on. Because of my inconvience I can now share a bargain with you. If you enter code 74936062 you get free shipping on ANYTHING (in the US) from now until July 25, 2010.

Moving right along to my weekend plans..tomorrow (Friday) I plan on going to the beach to lay out because my nice North Carolina tan is fading, so weather permitting, thats where I will be :). Saturday, being the *great* wife that I am, I am accompanying my husband to Mayhem Fest. And thats just what it will probably be, Mayhem. I shall probably take a picture of my OOTD for that event, that'll be a good one! I was thinking shorts and a tank top, we're in the middle of a heat wave people!

Anyways, as I end this entry, I make a promise to post more blogs, learn better grammar, and post some OOTD :)

{Life} Everything Weekend

So, every Monday I will do my weekend review. Here goes:

Friday: Took Catera (DD) to Mt. Tom State Park & Lake, along with my dear friend Olivia (& Co-worker). We had a great time, Catera enjoyed trying to catch frogs and fish while I enjoyed tanning. It is really a beautiful state park with swimming, a snack bar, tables and grills, and hiking. On a weekday for a CT car it cost $6.00, I am not sure of the price for the weekend or an out-of-state vehicle, but I will find out and update. After a few hours on the beach, I dropped off Catera with her mom, brought Olivia home and hung out at the house. I have been reading "The Things We Do For Love", by Kristin Hannah, about a woman whose marriage has dissipated after infertility issues have made her and her husband strangers. It is an excellent book and comes highly recommended from me. I read for a few hours and then watched 'American History X', still one of my all time favorite movies. Lastly, my girlfriend Catherine came over for a little gab fest about life.

Saturday: Lounged around and straightened up some more around the house. Ran to Goodwill to drop off a few bags of clothes (go me for cleaning out my closet!). Ran to Target to get a card for Olivia's HS grad party. Spent the rest of the day at Olivia's graduation picnic, had tons of fun talking to people and slinging back some good ol bud light! Later on in the night, Olivia and 3 friends came over, along with my mima, Catherine, and DH. We all sat on the patio having a few drinks and played Kings Cup. A good night overall.

Sunday: Cleaned up after the night before's festivities (see a common thread? I'm ALWAYS cleaning!), went grocery shopping, and did laundry. My WONDERFUL, TALENTED husband re-cemented our stairway that goes down to our yard. They were falling apart, chipping, and were so very uneven that you could not even attempt to go down then after more than 1 drink! Uploaded some pictures from our North Carolina trip on to FB, and watched some TV with the hubs to wrap up the weekend.

Overall, a very good, busy weekend. No kids this weekend so we had the chance to do some stuff around the house we have been putting off. Just working this week. Look foward to an OOTD post in the next couple of days!

{Beauty} Oil Blotter Sheet Tip

I want to pass on a trick I read about in a magazine a few years back. Companies such as Neutrogena and Almay have come out with oil blotting papers. I ran right out thinking this was the miracle product! Being Italian and all (no offense people!) my mid day shine is enough to make you go blind. Furthermore, Being the frugal fashionista that I am, I got rather excited about this tidbit. In most public restrooms there are paper toilet seat covers (I'll never forget the time my brother thought it was a bib and came out wearing one around his neck at a family reunion). They are the same kind of paper that the oil blotter sheets are made out of, and they do the trick just as well if not better. They get rid of the mid day shine, while still leaving makeup intact. Isn't that great? Most of all, its FREE. Who doesn't like free? Now, if you're at work or on your smartphone go in to the bathroom, grab a sheet, and try it! Let me know what you think!

Know of any other things that double as a fashion & beauty item?
